I FINISHED!!!
Okay, so, this took about five days, not straight. I didn't have time to work on it over my vacation and during school, so I had to get it done at some time when I could be left alone...and so I finished it just before I went to bed.
At first, it was just going to be a cat in the same pose, but no beam of light. In fact, no background at all. Then, listening to some music, I came up with the idea of the beam of light. So I tried my hardest to erase at the top, and while there is still reminiscence of the drawn surface, I say I erased it rather well.
I tried to keep the beam of light neat and clean. I wanted it straight and fringed at the end. I also wanted a foggy effect at the base of the pool: this I achieved by blending the graphite with a tissue.
It is just a cat, a regular cat you see. But it does have one abnormality: size. This cat is to your waist. It is benevolent, however, and has just finished a nights exploring the Realtime - Our Time, our world. As such, the feline searches for a pool of water like this in a cave. These fountains are precious, as they are portals to the Dreamtime: a magical place created by ones dreams. Everyone has a different dreamtime, each filled with different things and names, but they are all part of a universal Sleep.
My dreamtime is just called The Dreamtime. I am the Keeper, the Maker, the Preserver. I am also the embodiment of vanity, evidently.
I'm very pleased with this, however I'll probably come back and darken some places, refine some small details and try to lighten some of the lines.
*****NOTES*****
'The Dreamtime' is from Aboriginal Mythology. The universal 'Sleep' refers to the same mythological text, actually. I've developed my Dreamtime quite extensively; you'll see that most of my drawings are composed of ideas that I've deposited there.
While drawing this, the music that inspired me was from Fable, a RP video game produced by Lion-Head. The track was 'Temple of Light', and if you've played the game, you'll see why a beam stands out to me when I hear this.

i have something to add about 'the dreamtime' not only is it differant for each person but people can find gateways to other worlds there and essentially travel thru others worlds
